Dr. Lee-Hood brings to each of her clients extensive expertise in accent improvement, language learning, intercultural skills, and professional communication. Her coaching and consultation are enriched by decades of experience in the private sector in a wide variety of fields. She has worked in management, leadership training, organizational culture change, public communications, equal opportunity, mediation, facilitation, dialogue, entrepreneurship, information technology, law, health, research, translation, higher education, and chaplaincy. As an employee and labor relations consultant at a large American multinational corporation, she provided oversight, training, and advice to managers and human resources business partners on compliance, work environment, equal opportunity, and performance management. She has been a trainer, coach, mediator, and/or advisor for organizations at the forefront of the negotiation and conflict transformation fields, including the world-renowned Program on Negotiation (PON), Global Negotiation Project, and Harvard Mediation Program (HMP) at Harvard University; Insight Partners; and Essential Partners, formerly the Public Conversations Project. She has also worked in the public sector as an investigator intern at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. Her pro bono work has ranged from mediating cases in the Massachusetts district courts to assistance to immigrants to nonsectarian spiritual care and includes regular community service.
Dr. Lee-Hood was adjunct faculty at Harvard University, where she taught courses for mid-career professionals and graduate students from varied fields and countries, and many attested to their profound impact. Deans and faculty sought her input for public speeches and high-level institutional statements and her advice on curriculum design and successful teaching approaches. At Harvard, she pioneered a high-profile program on practices of appreciative intercultural engagement, conflict transformation, and transformative leadership informed by wisdom from the world's cultural and spiritual traditions. She built relationships among the program's stakeholders around the globe, led its public communications and academic collaborations, directed its programming, and managed its staff. Attended by thousands, the groundbreaking program was acclaimed by the public, experts, and leaders, including at the United Nations, for advancing intercultural engagement and foregrounding practices of leadership ethics vital for our contemporary world and humanity's future.
Executives and professionals whom Dr. Lee-Hood has coached come from a broad array of industries and from around the globe. Clients have traveled from another state or continent to attend her programs in person. She has conducted individual, group, and onsite corporate training and now offers her unique programs online, accessible to clients worldwide. Dr. Lee-Hood earned her PhD and MA degrees in the humanities at Harvard University with a specialization in languages, literatures, cultures, and spiritual traditions, with her faculty committee describing her PhD dissertation and oral defense as of highest honors (summa cum laude) quality. At Harvard, she previously earned her MTS degree with a specialization in the Middle East and her AB degree with a specialization in East Asia. She graduated from Harvard College with high honors (magna cum laude), Phi Beta Kappa, and highest honors (summa cum laude) for her oral defense of her honors thesis. She earned her MS degree in speech-language pathology from Boston University and trained at Massachusetts General Hospital and other leading institutions. She has been a certified teacher of business English (CTBE) since 2003, a certified teacher of English as a foreign language (CTEFL) since 2002, and a certified speech-language pathologist (CCC-SLP) since 1999. She has received many awards for academic excellence, from Harvard University, Boston University, Phillips Andover Academy, the national Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, the National Merit Scholars Program, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the U.S. Department of Education.

A native speaker of American English, Dr. Lee-Hood was born and raised in the United States in the city of Boston. Growing up in an East-West multicultural family with ancestors from Asia and Europe inspired in her a lifelong interest in languages, cultures, and the rich contributions of the world's civilizations to humanity. She has studied multiple foreign languages to an advanced level (Mandarin Chinese, French, Arabic) and additional languages (Toisanese and Cantonese Chinese, German, Persian, Tamil), which together span the Sino-Tibetan, Afro-Asiatic, Indo-European, and Dravidian language families. She has lived for extended periods, studied, and/or traveled in Europe, East Asia, South Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East.
Dr. Lee-Hood knows firsthand the excitement and challenges of striving to master a new language and communicate successfully in a new cultural environment. She is dedicated to helping international people to achieve their full potential.
